Bellyslap! - Drumming for Bellydancers Photos Bellyslap! and Hossam Ramzy [9 Images] Hossam and Serena Ramzy were in Melbourne in July 2006, and Bellyslap! were fortunate enough to interact with the internationally-renowned couple. Yeow was part of the Melbourne promotions team, and Tony provided the sound, lighting and DJing for Hossam and Serena's only Melbourne concert. And most importantly, Bellyslap performed with Hossam at that concert (with our teacher, Anita). We were joined by guest ziller, Ma'isah (leader of bellydance troupe Raqs Gothique), and performed with Amanda and students from her dance-school Bodyworship Bellydance. We performed 3 songs, Hafla, Baladi-Zils and Gypsy. Thanks for Toula for organising yet another successful Kismet, and for allowing us to end her weekend with live drumming! Was attended by 18 keen drummers and bellydancers who wanted to learn how to play the darabuka. As you can see by the photos, everyone had lots of fun! View Album Sarayi's Charity Concert [3 Images] Stephanie, owner of Sarayi Bellydance School, organised a successful charity concert to raise funds for children with impaired hearing at St Mary's. We were delighted to be part of the evening, playing Baladi-Zils, and then Gypsy for our beautiful dancer, Gaby, doing her first ever solo dance. This event was also special in that it was Penelope's "swan song", and Bec's inaugrual drum, with Bellyslap. So hello and goodbye! Line-up: Yeow, Bec, Anja, Niki, Penelope. View Album Tony's Hafla July 2006 [2 Images] Our very own Tony organised and ran a very successful "get-together" of drummers and dancers, held at the Dream Nightclub, Queensberry Rd, Carlton. Performers included Bellyslap!, 3 African drum groups, a drum/dancer duet, and various bellydance groups and solo performers.
